This one day course follows the syllabus recommended by the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) and the MCA (Maritime & Coastguard Agency).
Following procedures from the St. John Ambulance and the British Red Cross with emphasis on a marine environment the course covers resuscitation, use of defibrillator, blood loss and the control of bleeding including the use of trauma, haemostatic dressings and awareness of tourniquets, treatment of an unconscious casualty, hypothermia & cold water shock, sea sickness & dehydration and the physical & mental effects on the body while on longer passages.
The First Aid Certificate is valid for three years from issue.
This qualification is required for Coastal and Yachtmaster examinations along with ISAF Offshore racing events.
